Martin G. Hacala

Martin Hacala

Martin G. Hacala is ChairmanPresident and Chief Executive Officer of GenStar.  He assumed the leadership of GenStar in January 2015. Previously, Marty held a variety of senior underwriting and claims positions in GenStar, Genesis, and Gen Re. Prior to joining the Gen Re group in 1997, Marty was a partner in the Washington, DC law firm of Ross, Dixon, and Masback, LLP, where his practice centered on insurance coverage litigation and counseling.  Marty also served as a Trial Attorney with the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice. He was appointed to that position through the Attorney General's Honors Program.  Marty received his AB and JD degrees with honors from St. Louis University.


Lane A. DeCoster

Lane

Lane A. DeCoster is Senior Vice President, Chief Underwriting Officer, and Underwriting Services Division Manager of GenStar.  He leads corporate underwriting, referral underwriting, actuarial pricing, data analytics, predictive modeling, coverage wording, state filings and regulatory compliance, and catastrophe management for enterprise risk management.  He has the same roles for Genesis.  Prior to assuming these positions for GenStar in 2015, he was a Vice President and Senior Referral Officer for GenStar and Genesis.  Lane’s career began at The Home Insurance Company as a commercial underwriter.  In 1987, Lane joined the Gen Re Group and held various reinsurance positions in underwriting, marketing, and management in Treaty, Casualty Facultative Programs, and initially Genesis.  Lane received a BS degree from the University of Vermont.


Regina Kirwan

Regina Kirwan

Regina Kirwan is Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of GenStar and Genesis.  Regina leads the Business Development Division which focuses on brand management, communication, product development, producer management and learning.  Prior to joining GenStar in 2015, Regina held senior underwriting and management roles for General Reinsurance.  Regina received her MBA from St. Joseph’s University and a BA degree from Holy Family University.  She is also a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania Insurance Executive Development Program and has attained her CPCU designation.


Tracey Bellack

Tracey Bellack is Senior Vice President of GenStar and Underwriting Manager of the Casualty and Professional Brokerage Division. Tracey joined the Gen Re Group in 1987 as a casualty underwriter, and has held the roles of Genesis Chicago Public Entity Practice Leader, GenStar
Los Angeles Unit Manager and Senior Referral Underwriter.  Her experience outside of GenRe includes retail brokerage, captive consulting and new venture marketing. Tracey is a graduate of Northwestern University and has earned the CPCU designation.


Jonathan Ball

John Nunneley

Jonathan Ball is Senior Vice President of GenStar and Underwriting Manager of the Property Brokerage Division.  Jon joined the Gen Re group in 2001 as a facultative underwriter and held a variety of underwriting and management roles in the U.S. and overseas prior to joining GenStar in 2017.  Jon received his MBA from Fordham University and BBA from the College of William & Mary and has attained the CPCU, CEEM, ARe, and AMIM designations.


Matthew Brown

Matt Brown

Matthew Brown is a Senior Vice President of GenStar and Underwriting Manager of the Delegated Division, which includes our Programs and Binding Authority business. Matt joined GenStar in 2000 as an underwriter in the Casualty Brokerage Division. In 2007, he was promoted to Manager of the Los Angeles Casualty Branch. Matt assumed his current position in 2014. Matt is a graduate of Long Beach State and has obtained his CPCU, ASLI and ARM designations.


Ted Gaisford

Ted Gaisford 

Ted Gaisford is Senior Vice President and Division Manager of the GenStar and Genesis Claim Department. Ted joined GenStar in 1995 as a Claim Examiner in the Los Angeles Branch, handling primary and excess casualty claims. In 1997 he was promoted to the Los Angeles Branch Claim Manager; he maintained that role until 2009, when he was promoted to Unit Manager for the Professional Liability Claim Unit in Chicago. Ted became the Unit Manager for the Genesis Claim Unit in 2014 and maintained that role until he was promoted to his current position. Ted is a graduate of San Jose State University and has earned his CPCU, RPLU+, ARM and ARM-P designations.

Robert Sharrer

Robert Sharrer is Senior Vice President of Finance and Accounting for GenStar.  Robert joined GenStar in 1987 as a client accountant in the New York branch.  He has held a variety of client, statutory and management accounting roles in GenStar, Genesis and Gen Re Global Finance.  He assumed his current role managing Finance and Accounting for GenStar in 2008.  Robert received his  BA from Vassar College and his MBA in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University.   He has obtained his CPCU, AIAF and ARe designations.

Candice Davies

Candice Davies is Senior Vice President of the Technology Strategy Division. Candice joined the General Re Group in 1999 as an IT Application Developer, later managing global business applications. In 2005 she moved to support business operations for both GenStar, Genesis and in 2017 assumed responsibility for business technology. Candice is a graduate of the Chubb Institute of Technology and has obtained her CPCU, AIAF and AIC designations.
