General Star offers E&O coverage to small to mid-sized P&C insurance agencies with an established business model and operational stability with a favorable loss history. At least 60% of premium volume and revenue must be derived from the sale of property & casualty products on a commission basis.*

Coverage is provided both on an admitted basis and non-admitted status through General Star National Insurance Company or General Star Indemnity Company.
Coverage Offered
- Claims-made and reported policy form
- Company has right and duty to defend claims
- Consent to settle provision
- Coverage for exclusive independent contractors
- Claim expenses within or outside the limits of liability
- Supplementary payments provided for expenses resulting from the investigation or defense of a proceeding before state licensing boards or other regulatory bodies
- Coverage for carrier insolvency (subject to underwriting criteria)
- Predecessors and successors in business provisions
- Worldwide coverage provided for claims/suits brought and maintained in the U.S. or Canada
Ineligible Exposures:
- Applicants with greater than 50 agents or greater than $25,000,000 premium volume
- Applicants with greater than 35% of premium volume derived from placing business as a wholesaler or surplus lines broker
- Applicants with greater than 35% of premium volume derived from surplus lines placements or specialty lines products
- Agency owners seeking coverage solely as individuals or as independent contractors
- Investment advisors or financial planning consultants
- Professionals who exercise discretionary authority over client funds
- Reinsurance brokers, TPAs, MGAs/MGUs, claim administrators, or national wholesale brokers
- Professionals who provide accounting services, tax preparation or legal services
- Professionals with any revenue generated from outside the United States

*The Insurance Agents and Brokers E&O program is approved in Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. Approval is pending in Connecticut, New York and Virginia.
