Physicians ADVANTAGE Program
Coverage Offered
Professional Liability coverage is offered on a claims-made incident sensitive form. The policy form is provided on an admitted basis by General Star National Insurance Company through designated brokers in the states of California, Illinois, and Nevada. Additional states will be introduced to the program during 2008.
Risk Appetite
Coverage is offered on a primary basis for most physician specialties, with the exception of Emergency Room specialists, full-time locum tenens, and physicians with extensive nursing home exposures. Physicians are required to have a good loss history, Board Certification, and no practice impairments. Limited exceptions require additional underwriting evaluation.
Coverage Terms of Note
The Advantage Program offers first dollar coverage (no deductible), defense costs are outside the limits of liability, and a separate limit of liability is available for group practice entities comprised of two or more physicians. Full prior acts coverage is available for eligible submissions. Quarterly or bi-annual premium payment plan options can be arranged. Standard limits of liability are $1,000,000/$3,000,000, with other options available.
For a complete list of coverage terms and program features, refer to the Advantage Program brochure. All coverages are subject to policy terms and conditions.
Risk Management Education
The General Star Advantage Program offers our insured physicians the opportunity to earn Category 1 CME credits online. Participants gain practical and actionable principles and techniques that help to increase patient safety and lower risk. The online experience provides quick and easy access for physicians to select, enroll, study and complete a CME course.
Target Classes
Virtually all physician specialties can be considered, with the few exceptions noted above. Solo physician practitioners, as well as small or large group practices are eligible for consideration.
